How we think about Youth Ministry at MVCF

Youth Ministry isn’t tidy, polished, or predictable — and that’s okay. Teens bring energy, questions, doubts, humor, and real life with them, and we meet them right where they are. Our approach is shaped by a few simple priorities that guide how we walk with students week after week.

We focus on relationships that matter

Students need people they can trust — adults who show up consistently and peers who walk through life with them. We create space for real conversations, shared experiences, and the kind of connection that helps students feel seen and supported.

We embrace the real, not the polished

Youth Ministry isn’t a performance. It’s not a program we’re trying to perfect. It’s a community of teens and adults learning to follow God together in the middle of everyday life — questions, messiness, laughter and all.

We give students room to be themselves

Thursday nights have energy. Students move around, talk, play, and interact in ways that fit who they are. Adults are present and attentive, but we don’t hover or over‑manage. We create an environment where students can be teens while still being cared for.

We take spiritual growth seriously, without forcing a pace

We open Scripture, pray, and talk about real life. Some students are eager to grow, some are unsure, and some are just figuring things out. We don’t pressure anyone — we walk with them and trust God to work in their lives over time.

We build consistency, not complexity

The center of Youth Ministry is Thursday Youth Group. It’s the weekly rhythm that gives students a dependable place to show up, connect, and grow. Camps and events add to that, but Thursday is where relationships form and faith takes root.

We communicate clearly and keep things straightforward

Parents don’t need a complicated system. We share what’s happening, what students need to know, and how to be involved. When questions come up, we’re available and honest.

If you’re looking for a Youth Group

The best place to begin is Thursday Youth Group — it’s where everything starts. You’re also welcome to join us on a Sunday to get a feel for our church community.
