Welcome to the study of the Book of Acts. During our time together (of unknown duration), we will examine the lives of the early members of The Way and seek to understand how and why they interacted with the societies and cultures of their time. As we move through Acts, we will look at the direct and indirect ties between the Hebrew scriptures (Old Testament), which anchored their worldview, and the Greek scriptures (New Testament), which document their actions, words, and instructions for applying Yeshua’s teachings.
This is an advanced, context‑driven study. We will explore the letters written to the communities mentioned in Acts (Philippi, Corinth, etc.), the rulers and empires that shaped their movements, and the geography that carried the good news from Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria “to the end of the earth.”
A few important notes before we begin:
The purpose of this study is to strengthen the foundation of our faith by developing a better understanding of the who, what, how, when, where, and why of the Bible.
No one here claims to be an expert in biblical studies or in Hebrew or Greek. This is a shared journey of discovery as we seek to understand the context, time, and culture of the Bible — and how our western perspective and English translations can shape, or misshape, our understanding of Yehovah’s Word.
You are encouraged to study Yehovah’s Word on your own, challenge what you hear, and even rethink things you’ve believed in the past.
Some study questions assume you will do additional research outside of our time together.
Earnestly ask Yehovah and Yeshua to open their Word to you as we study.
